I started building this site in 2022, as a way to backup creative works in case something happened to Archive Of Our Own [or G-d forbid if my account ever got hacked or something]. At first, it was fun.
Unfortunately, building a site on Neocities involves coding everything by hand, which is time-consuming even when you use a template [and putting it bluntly I can't find Neocities templates where the design doesn't make me want to spork my fucking eyes out]. It's fine for hobbyists who might have a few pages, it eventually became not fine for me, trying to ARCHIVE ALL THE THINGS, especially when I have IRL obligations like medical appointments and therapy, and eventually in 2025 got into a relationship again. By March 2025 my updates to this site were fewer and farther between.
Putting it bluntly, this website also doesn't get a lot of traffic - it's mostly crawler bots, my cyberstalkers and the occasional rando; there isn't really a way to optimize this site to get more traffic from people who might be interested in the kind of things I make - so it doesn't seem worth it for the amount of time I've invested in coding.
So it's time to finally let this site go. I'm not deleting it, but I will no longer be updating it EXCEPT when I or my best friend Asha [Detergent @ Ao3] have new material for our shared universe Corn of Eternity, because I don't really know where else to put it [until/unless I make a dedicated site just for Corn, which is a distinct possibility] and it deserves to be backed up.
I am not, however, done archiving and sharing my work: I am in the process of building a site I'm sharing with my partner Andy as a showcase for our respective works and occasional collaborations; once that site goes live, I'll be dropping a link. Because that site has a builder and doesn't need to be hand-coded - I can get things up there within a few minutes that would take me a half-hour to an hour here - it should theoretically be much easier to keep up with... and it's also time for something more professional-looking and "grownup" as my portfolio. Plus it just feels right to launch a site with my partner, considering he has been so instrumental in the creative renaissance I've had starting in 2025.
If you're one of the genuine, legitimate people who's been visiting this site and enjoying what I have here, thanks for the support, and I hope you'll enjoy the new site just as much even more.
As for my haters... get a fucking life already!
Peace,
Fin
