Imin and Iminyë.
SV: In choosing how to depict the first leaders of the Elves, I wanted to do something more substantial than a couple of beautiful elves with fig leaves covering their modesty, and I also wanted something more majestic than Imin in a loincloth and Iminyë in a fur bikini. So I reasoned that, with their heightened abilities compared to mortals, the Elves at Cuiviénen would have developed fairly quickly a level of technology analogous to late Neolithic / early Bronze Age mortal cultures. As a result, they’d have woven fabrics, including silk, which drapes Iminyë. They also would have used natural means of bleaching and dyeing their textiles; Imin and Iminyë are wearing saffron- or turmeric-dyed garments, because they prefer the gold tones that are reminiscent of their distinctive hair.
Speaking of their famous blond hair, I headcanon that the tresses of the Minyar / Vanyar resemble filaments of pure gold, which I tried to depict here.
Obviously, I drew heavily on Greek culture for the basic attire and leaf crowns seen here, but it felt appropriate for the mythical nature of Imin and Iminyë.
