I Will Protect You

To my younger self, who needs to hear,
I write these words, soft but clear—
A promise whispered through the years,
To shield you from the pain and fear.

I know you feel the weight, the sting,
The words that hurt and songs they sing,
The bruises on your skin and heart,
The echoes tearing you apart.

But you are enough, my precious friend,
Your worth is true, your life will mend.
The darkness now, will fade in time,
And you will rise and brightly shine.

To you, a younger me, I say,
You deserve the light of day,
Not shadows cold, nor cruel disguise—
You deserve the truth of loving eyes.
